The Culinary Awards 2018 first edition was a huge success!

Los Cabos is one of the most enigmatic and important cities internationally. Positioned as one of the favorite tourist destinations of thousands of people around the world. Los Cabos reinforces its commitment to luxury tourism by providing a high-quality customer service and, of course, captivate each visitor with the growing gastronomy that sets new challenges for Chefs and delight diners.


New and well-established restaurants create menus with fresh ingredients and flavors that characterize the current cuisine of Baja California Sur. In addition, they have the support of mixologists who present extraordinary cocktails to pair the dishes or enjoy by themselves, enhancing the culinary experience.

Culinary Awards is a recognition for those who make gastronomy a strength in this destination. In this first edition, over 100 restaurants were registered.


Some of the nominations were: Arbol, at Ventanas al Paraíso; Carbon, Cabron, and COMAL, from Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, nominated in the new restaurant category. Nicksan, Metate and Sunset Monalisa, in the category of culinary experience in Cabo San Lucas and, of course, the nominees Chef of the year: Andres Bracamontes from SUR Beach House, Enrique Olvera from Manta in The Cape a Thompson Hotel, Richard Sandoval from Toro Latin Kitchen & Bar, Thierry Blouet from Café des Artistes from JW Marriot, and Iván Mucharraz with COMAL from Chileno Bay Resort & Residences to mention some categories, the participants were a confirmation of the skill that exists inside each kitchen of Los Cabos.


The gala to announce the winners took place at Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda del Mar with the spectacular set up by Del Cabo Event Design. The ceremony was an exciting moment to reward the efforts of all the nominated restaurants, chefs, and mixologists. The 16 Culinary Awards categories are a way to exhibit and reward the efforts of hundreds of people dedicated to the gastronomy industry.

Rising New Chef: Anand Singh – Árbol, Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort.
Sweet Dessert Proposal: Toro, Latin Kitchen & Bar by Richard Sandoval.
Culinary Proposal: Comar, Chileno Bay & Residences.
Bar of The Year: The Rooftop, The Cape, a Thompson Hotel.
Wine Selection: Seared, One & Only Palmilla.
Bartender of The Year: Osvaldo Vázquez – Comal, Chileno Bay & Residences.
Culinary Experience located in Cabo San Lucas: Sunset Monalisa.
Culinary Experience located in a hotel in Cabo San Lucas: El Farallón, The Resort at Pedregal.
Culinary Experience located on the Los Cabos Tourist Corridor: Pitahayas, Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda del Mar.
Culinary Experience located in San José del Cabo: Flora’s Field Kitchen.
Culinary Experience located in a hotel in San José del Cabo: Café des Artistes Los Cabos, JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa.
Culinary Achievement: Sabor a Cabo.
New Restaurant: Comal, Chileno Bay & Residences.
Chef of The Year: Yvan Mucharraz, Comal, Chileno Bay & Residences.
Restaurant of The Year in the City: Toro, Latin Kitchen & Bar by Richard Sandoval.
Restaurant of The Year in a Hotel: Comal, Chileno Bay & Residences.


Without a doubt, the award night of the Culinary Awards in its first edition was a moment to celebrate. Thanks to each and every one of the nominees for the effort they put in having a first class restaurant and provide the destination with superiority for their services.
